Paddle Destinations

 

The purpose of this page is to list paddling destinations in the Northwest.  This list of paddle trips has been compiled from Boeing Kayak Club trips and paddles that I have been on.  If you have some additional ideas please let me know.

Paddle Route Comments
Olympia You can launch from downtown or if you want more challenge Boston Harbor
Allyn Watch the tides!  Mudflats at Allyn can be a drag.
Burrows Island Some tricky currents north of the island, minimal beach at the Lighthouse for a lunch stop.
Chuckanut Island This a pleasant scenic paddle.  A stop at Chuckanut Island for a break is a great diversion.
Commencement Bay This urban paddle can be very pleasant and a stop by the Glass Museum makes oit a cultural event! 
Deception Pass Not for the weak of heart!
Doe Island Watch for currents!  Use your tide tables and current charts
Hartstene Island Pleasant protected paddle in the South Sound
Hartstene Island Circumnavigation This is a two day paddle.  Can be done in one day if the currents co-operate and you are a hard paddler.
Hat Slough to Kayak Point This is a pleasant paddle north of Everett, exploring Port Susan.
Henderson Inlet South Sound Paddle.  This is a nature area check before you enter to ensure it is open!
Hope Island, Skagit Bay You'll find several Hope islands in the Sound.  This one is north of La Conner! 
Hylebos Waterway Another urban paddle on the north side of Commencement Bay
Jetty Island Explore the shore of this man made island.  the sandy beaches are great!  See the late 1800's wooden barges that were scuttled to craete breakwaters north of the island.  Watch out for low tide on the north side.
Mats Mats Bay to Port Ludlow Nice paddle on the Olympic Penninsula
Old Man House to Poulsbo Pleasant mid-Sound paddle.
Penrose State Park This is a pleasant South Sound Paddle.
Dash Point to Redondo Nice paddle and a Sunday Brunch at Salty's is a must!
Ballard Locks to West Point Pass through a set of locks and have lunch on a sandy beach.
Oak Harbor to Coupeville This pleasant Whidbey Island paddle can be an easy paddle.  Watch for winds from the south.
Fox Island to Cutts Island A great south sound paddle, sheltered waters.
McMicken Island A nice south Sound Paddle.
Luhr Beach to Anderson Explore the Nisqually Flats, Oro Bay and Anderson Island.  Watch out for low tides!
Pomeroy State Park (Manchester) to Blake Island Avoid the 4 mile crossing and paddle from Manchester to Blake Island. 
Anacortes to Saddlebag Island A good paddle with a short crossing.
