| Trip Notes | Launch from Luhr Beach boat ramp, check the tides there can be as much as a 14' tidal exchange. It may be impossible to return to Luhr beach at extreme low tide. Paddle NW across the Nisqually Flats to Anderson Island, if you want a longer paddle you can go further into Oro Bay before heading toward Carlson Bay. There is a Washington Water Trails Campsite at Carlson, you must be a Water Trails member and have approval prior top camping. You can either retrace your route on the return or cross Nisqually Reach and return to Luhr Beach. There are numerous seals in the area. Nisqually is also a bird sanctuary and there are many varieties of birds in the area. |
